A creative digital agency based in Stoke-on-Trent has been shortlisted for five industry awards in Europe and the Midlands, in recognition of its work with the Dougie Mac Hospice.
Harrison Carloss launched a three-month media campaign under the banner ‘Always here for you, now for dementia too,’ which saw awareness of Dougie Mac’s dementia support services rise from 29 per cent to 66 per cent.
The package, which included a television advert, direct mail and social media, has been shortlisted in the Best Non-Profit Campaign, Best Integrated Campaign and Best Local Campaign at the European Agency Awards, with Harrison Carloss a candidate for the title of Best Small Agency of the Year.
Its work with Dougie Mac is also up for Best Local Campaign and Best Storytelling accolades at the Midlands Marketing Awards.
Adam Mobley, Managing Director at Harrison Carloss, said: “We’re really proud that our work with the Dougie Mac has been recognised within our industry.
“To be shortlisted in both the Midlands Marketing Awards and the European Agency Awards is a testament to the value of our partnership with the hospice and the support we offered in shifting perceptions around the care it provides for people of all ages.
“For years, the hospice has been a pillar of the Staffordshire community, known primarily for its outstanding end-of-life care.
“Our mission was to show the region that Dougie Mac isn’t just there for the end, but there to improve the quality of life for those living with dementia right now.”
Part of the Staffordshire community for generations, Dougie Mac’s reputation for palliative care services is reflected in its recent award of a rarely achieved ‘Outstanding’ rating by CQC.
When the hospice merged with Approach Dementia Support in 2024, its pioneering work in dementia services expanded in line with a growing need for support in the community, including activity groups and carers’ training.
To raise awareness of the new provision, the hospice, aided by a legacy dedicated to promoting its work in this area, tasked long-term partner
Harrison Carloss to develop the largest communications initiative in its 53-year history.
The campaign included TV advertising – a first for Dougie Mac – supported by social media, direct mail, online and roadside advertising, as well as local press.
Brogan Evans, Head of Marketing & Communications at Dougie Mac said: “The hospice has a long history of supporting people living with life‑limiting illnesses, and over recent years that care has grown to support people of all ages across our community.
“What this campaign helped us do is shine a light on the dedicated dementia support services we now also offer, and the vital role they play for individuals and families locally.
“With dementia affecting more people every year, it’s essential that our community knows dedicated support is available close to home.
“By raising awareness of these dementia‑specific services, we’re helping people access the right care at the right time, improving quality of life and making a real difference.”
