Staff at a Wolverhampton base care home donned the Irish hats and costumes in preparation for St Patrick’s Day.

An Irish themed party was organised for the cultural and religious celebration at MHA Engelberg, with plenty of activities taking place.

The home offers residential care for 34 residents, with tailored care in a warm, supportive and friendly environment.

Crates of Guinness and special cupcakes were ordered in and the day consisted of an Irish quiz, bingo and singing and dancing.

All residents watched the St Patrick’s Day march on the television and plenty of them got involved in organising the home for the celebration.

Claire Picchi, acting manager said: “We were planning this special day for a couple of weeks and were really looking forward to it.

“We decorated the lounge and dining room in traditional Irish colours and had a lot of fun.

“The residents really enjoyed it and it was extra special knowing we have one Irish resident living with us, who was very impressed with the celebrations.

“The staff also deserve a lot of credit and really got involved, some wore Irish costumes and other wore something green which was nice to see.

“We wanted to make sure it was a memorable and fun-filled day for everyone involved and I am glad to know everyone really enjoyed themselves.
