Pupils at Dashwood Banbury Academy in Banbury recently received a donation of reflective bag tags from leading developer Barratt Homes to help them shine bright whilst on their way to and from school ahead of Walk to School Week (16th to 20th May).

The five star housebuilder gave the school reflective tags for its pupils to wear whilst walking to and from school, ensuring they can be easily seen on the roads outside of school.

Walk to School Week takes place in May each year and encourages pupils to take action on road safety and shout out for our right to make safe and healthy journeys every day.

Ruth Jakeman, Business Manager at Dashwood Banbury Academy, said: “We always encourage our families to walk, scoot or cycle to school and it was great to be able to give our Reception and Year 1 reflective bag tags to wear either on their coat or have on their book bag means that they will be seen by drivers easily.”

Dashwood Banbury Academy is located in the Grimsbury area of Banbury, the next town over from Bodicote, and the donation of hi-vis bag tags is another part of Barratt Homes’ outreach to the local community.

In what’s been a challenging time for schools across the country as a result of the pandemic, the leading developer is as committed as ever to providing support during Walk to School Week and beyond.

Adrian Evans, Managing Director at Barratt Homes West Midlands, said: “We want to ensure the pupils in the local communities remain visible and safe, and our donation has hopefully still encouraged them to safely practice Walk to School Week.

“This is a campaign we actively support each year as we endeavour to help local school children in their efforts to commute on foot, and the tags have proven to be both effective and practical.

“Following the lockdowns and restrictions, it’s even more important for us to support the local schools in and around the communities we build, so we’re thrilled to have had the chance to support Dashwood Banbury Academy ahead of Walk to School Week.”
