A new homes sales manager is finally getting to enjoy the benefits of living in a new-build house after buying at a Bellway development in Rugby.
After two second-hand home purchases, Hannah Gill upgraded to a brand new three-bedroom house at Houlton Meadows, where she moved in December.
The 31-year-old, who has worked in the housing industry for four years, is delighted with her high-quality, low-maintenance home, which she’s carefully furnished to achieve a showhome look.
She said: “I have bought and lived in two other houses before, one was a Victorian terrace and the other was 12 years old. The Victorian home was bought so I could get onto the property ladder and the second home was bought because of the convenience of its location.
“After going to work and seeing all these new showhomes, I lost motivation to spend time and money on renovating where I was living at the time. The other homes were stepping stones for me to be able to move into a new-build property.
“I wanted my house to look like a showhome and this has influenced the furniture I’ve bought. Buying a new-build property has meant that I can enjoy my home rather than constantly having to think about maintaining it.”
With a considerable amount of experience working alongside housing developers and new-build homes, Hannah was impressed with the build quality of the Ashby house type she bought from Bellway.
She said: “I can honestly say that I have never found a house that has had less snags to raise and the layout is perfect for me. The house I have now is close to being the same size as my old one, but the layout makes it feel like it is twice as big.
“I wanted to buy a three-bedroom home so I could use one bedroom to sleep in, one for a guest bedroom and the other as a dressing room because I have quite a lot of clothes.
“I really like how the hallway leads onto the lounge on one side, and the kitchen/dining area on the other, whereas in my old home you’d have to walk through the lounge to get to other rooms.
“My favourite room in the house is the lounge. It has double aspect windows that let in a lot of light, so it feels bright.”
In addition to being impressed with her new house, Hannah also loves the development’s location and the great community spirit at Houlton Meadows.
She said: “The outside space here is incredible. There are huge areas for dog walks and it is all integrated well. There’s a new road to the retail park where there’s a bit of everything. It takes 10 minutes to get there and you are far enough away that you don’t see the traffic.
“In places I’ve moved into before, it can be hard to meet new people and get to know your neighbours. I think the fact that Houlton Meadows is a new development has meant the people who move here are more open to getting to know each other – it has been heart-warming to see.
“The development would be great for people moving from outside of the area who may not know anyone here, because this seems like a very social place and it would be very easy to meet people.”
Hannah was also very pleased with the customer service she received from Bellway, who helped her throughout the process.
She said: “The Bellway staff have been beyond helpful and the sale went brilliantly. The site manager has come over several times to make sure everything is okay with me and the house.
“Nothing I ask ever seems like too much and anytime I have asked for something, it has been done very quickly. I would 100 per cent recommend buying with Bellway.”
