Barratt and David Wilson Homes Mercia has donated £1,500 to West Midlands charity Caring Minds, part of the wider Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Trust (BSMHFT), as part of its Community Fund scheme.

The charity provides comprehensive mental healthcare service for residents of Birmingham and Solihull, and a range of communities across the county.

Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ donation was made as part of the Barratt Developments Plc Charitable Foundation, which is designed to support national and local charities, large and small, across the UK to leave a legacy in the communities in which the housebuilder operates.

Caring Minds’ position is to improve and support the Trust by providing funding that will add value and enhance the services offered to users, visitors and staff members. This may include specialised equipment and furniture, activities, care, wellbeing activities and many more.

BSMHFT has a workforce of over 4,000 employees, and operates at more than 40 sites to serve a culturally and socially diverse population of 1.3 million throughout the West Midlands.

Louise John, Charity Manager at Caring Minds, said: “Whilst our work covers many areas and can often be complex, our aim is simply ‘improving mental health wellbeing’. We aim to bring the Trust and communities together through fundraising events and campaigns and we welcome the support and involvement of supporters, service users, carers and friends of the Trust.”

Throughout the pandemic the Trust faced a very challenging time, while having to maintain vital services in line with the government guidelines. New technology was embraced including video calls to help continue the provision of such necessary services.

Anna Sykes continued: “Smaller charities are extremely grateful for support from individuals, communities, and businesses. Not only do cash donations help us achieve our goals, values and ambitions, but they also raise the charity’s profile which is invaluable.”

The donation made by Barratt and David Wilson Homes will be dedicated to providing the Trust with much needed resources, that are outside of what is funded by the NHS, for new applications that are received by the charity.

Dominic Harman, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Mercia, said: “As a leading developer, donating to organisations and charities in the areas in which we build is vital, and Caring Minds is certainly deserving of support.

“The work that the charity carries out is of extreme importance and we are more than happy to make a contribution to help those in need receive the charity’s services and have access to the highest level of support.”
