Droitwich Enters the Fast Lane
Fibre Heroes have switched on their Droitwich cabinet live offering ultrafast internet speeds to thousands of premises.
Fibre Heroes, a wholesale network provider delivering connectivity to small towns across Worcestershire, have commissioned their first cabinet in the county. Droitwich is the location of this groundbreaking Full Fibre service that can deliver upload and download speeds of up to 1 Gigabit per second.
Thousands of residents and business across the town are now able to sign up for a full fibre connection and receive ultrafast internet speeds for the first time. Over the coming months, every single property in the town will be able to access the same capability making Droitwich one of the best connected places in the country.
Area General Manager for Fibre Heroes, Gareth Yardley, said:
“The town has been underserved for a long time, so building this full fibre network has been a real achievement. Getting the network live and able to serve a large proportion of the town has been a challenge and that challenge will continue as we work to make sure it is available to every property. However, knowing the difference it will make to local people for generations to come makes the job worthwhile.”
Fibre Heroes partner with a wide range of local and national ISP’s (Internet Service Providers) to offer real competition and choice to customers. Not only will those signing up for a service receive a boost in internet speeds, but the reliability and consistency of the service will be worlds apart from the existing provision. This means that users can seamlessly run multiple applications simultaneously across different devices maintaining fast speeds at all times which is perfect for families or those who work from home.
MP Nigel Huddleston said:
“Developments like this are key to the Governments’ policy of improving the nation’s connectivity and levelling up more generally. This will come as welcome news to local business as well as those residents that have struggled to work from home in recent years. It’s fantastic to see Droitwich leading the way with new lightning-fast, reliable broadband”.
Cllr Bob Brookes, Chairman of Worcestershire County Council and member of Droitwich Town Council, added:
“Full Fibre has been a long time coming. The existing Fibre to the Cabinet, Copper to the Home network has served the town well but will rapidly become obsolete. Only a complete fibre connection will secure town’s future connectivity, so I’m delighted that Droitwich is in the vanguard of this digital revolution and that no property will be left in the slow lane”.
