Britain’s biggest Bingo brand Buzz Bingo has honoured two Bingo-loving best friends at the launch of a new club in Worcester.
Local residents and long-standing members of the club Brenda Hughes, aged 80, and Maureen Morris, aged 79, have been playing Bingo together for over a quarter of a century. They recently joined the Foregate Street Buzz Bingo team to perform a special ribbon cutting, officially declaring the club open.
The launch of the new club comes as new research reveals Bingo players in the Midlands enjoy the game primarily as a way to socialise with others more than any other region in the UK. “We love the community feel at the Bingo club,” explained Brenda. “It’s a great way to break up the day for us, so we’re not sat in the house all day.”
Maureen added: “Everyone knows us there and it’s such a friendly atmosphere. It’s a safe place to be where we can sit and have a natter.”
Brenda and ‘Mo’, as she’s referred to at the Worcester club, have lived opposite each other for over 50 years and have been visiting the club together at least four times a week since 1992. “We always share our winnings and have even used the funds in the past to go on a girls’ trip to Salou,” continued Maureen, who has 11 great grandsons and one great granddaughter.
Local Marketing Business Partner, Mark St Claire said: “The club could’ve chosen a celebrity or a rugby player for their opening, but instead they wanted to honour people who mean something to the club. That’s why Lindsey, the General Manager chose Brenda and Maureen, who represent all of Buzz Bingo’s Worcester customers past and present – they’re the ultimate VIPs! It’s a truly fantastic gesture from a club built from its community roots.”
