PET-Xi Training- one of the most hard-hitting and dynamic training providers in the UK with a reputation for success with the hardest to reach – has launched its exciting new Active Summer Schools Programme – a blend of tailored academic support for maths and English coupled with fun enrichment activities designed to re-engage learners, encourage social interaction, rebuild confidence and tackle learning loss.

The programme targets all year groups and abilities – face-to-face or remotely using the PET-Xi Live platform – and is designed to re-invigorate and re-energise learners following their prolonged absence from the classroom.

School subject heads select from PET-Xi topic menus to pinpoint learning, so courses are tailored to the needs of the students. Programme specific workbooks and bespoke classroom resources created in advance, ensure that the resources are as effective as the high quality, dynamic teaching and learning from the PET-Xi team.

Each group of 30 learners are supported by a maths and an English subject lead, motivational lead and support trainer. They deliver 3-4 hrs of highly structured teaching using the PET-Xi unique classroom dynamic – based loosely on the Socratic method with thinking and questioning modelled by the teacher and motivational lead. This unique methodology, staffing structure and programme delivery creates a learning dynamic that achieves outstanding lessons, with 98% of students reporting an increase in confidence and self-esteem. Daily confidence building tests provide data on progress, and an end of programme report prepared by PET-Xi completes the assessment record.

Enrichment activities include sports and fitness, arts and crafts, showcase performances with singing, dancing and drama, and community based projects, all recognised for promoting students’ mental health and physical wellbeing.

With such a comprehensive package provided by PET-Xi, schools can give staff a well-earned rest after the stress of lockdown, or staff can join the programme as paid members of the PET-Xi team.
