Suit Direct, one of the UK’s leading men’s formal wear retailers, is to embark on a major expansion programme following the opening of its new flagship store on Birmingham’s New Street on 25 September 2020.
The retail sector initially took a massive hit from the full effects of the coronavirus pandemic, but since then, UK retail sales volumes rebounded in July to above pre-crisis levels with pent-up demand and the continued re-opening of stores, translating into heightened trading activity.
While there are fears that the end of holidays and re-opening of schools could result in fewer people visiting high streets, Suit Direct is optimistic about a return of consumers to the high street and is implementing an exciting growth strategy in 2020/2021.
The retailer, which is part of the Baird Group, plans to open 10 city-centre stores by the end of 2020 and up to 25 store openings within 18 months.
Suit Direct stocks a premium selection of both formal and casualwear brands including Marc Darcy, Ben Sherman, Jeff Banks, Gibson London and Antique Rogue as well as stocking a variety of accessories including shoes, ties and belts, the finishing touches for any outfit. The in-store team also offer measuring services, free alterations plus an in-store kiosk where customers can order stock from the website’s extensive collections.

Located on New Street, next door to the Apple store, underneath the Burlington Hotel and a stone’s throw from Birmingham’s major transport links including New Street station, the impressive glass-fronted store will be the first high street location for the Suit Direct brand.
