Almost a quarter of parents in the West Midlands have admitted that forgetting the batteries would ruin their Christmas Day
In a recent poll of UK parents*, forgetting the batteries on Christmas Day tops the list of possible holiday disasters. Christmas lights breaking, buying children the wrong gift and running out of wrapping paper are also reasons for the UK’s biggest national holiday not going to plan. The survey was carried out by consumer battery specialist, VARTA, which is reminding gift-givers not to forget batteries to ensure the big day runs smoothly!
One of the holiday season’s hidden heroes, batteries are vital at Christmas, with it taking 28 VARTA batteries to power toys, remote controls, and those all-important fairy lights for an average family’s Christmas Day. In fact, according to the research, over a third of people in the West Midlands have forgotten batteries for children’s Christmas presents! Not only that, more than half of Amazon’s top 10 Christmas toys list this year requires batteries, so don’t be left unable to power up those all-important gifts.
Clare Rix, trade marketing manager at VARTA Consumer Batteries, said: “I’m sure I’m not the only person who has had to borrow batteries from the remote to power up a new toy, or worse, had to deal with a toddler tantrum because there are no batteries in the house. With a bit of organisation and planning, this can be avoided, and VARTA’s extensive range of high-quality batteries has been designed to help power toys, games and all of the trappings of Christmas.”
She added: “VARTA sees an increase in battery sales every December, and we anticipate this year to be no exception. With so many household essentials and gifts using batteries, it’s vital to buy early to ensure you’re able to get what you need. Nobody wants to be swapping batteries around toys and gadgets on Christmas Day!”
‘Don’t forget your batteries!’ is the key message from VARTA this Christmas.
